Brave New Day

Brave New Day
Words by Jack Dingler
Sung to the Tune of ‘Rare Oul’ Times’

We burned down old Fallujah, gave them rubble and decay.
And in the death and glory, gave them a brand new day.
For to give them dreams of freedom, we must take their lives away.
That is how we do things, in this brave new day.

Chorus
For freedom is only slavery, the truth composed of lies.
And with every person we learn to hate, we learn to die inside.

We argue and we bicker, we shout our words of hate.
And while we kill for Jesus, we’re consumed by our debates.
We started out to save the world, and save them from themselves.
Now we keep on fighting, to glorify ourselves.

We gave them a puppet government, then declared them free.
And every one that disagrees, dies in a shooting spree.
We’re going to give them liberty, and a democracy.
And few people that we know today, can tell us what that means.

Chorus
For freedom is only slavery, the truth composed of lies.
And with every person we learn to hate, we learn to die inside.

And back here in America, the land of the free.
Our livelihoods are being sold, to interests overseas.
With no new trades to take their place, no new things to learn,
The land and people living here, have no other place to turn.

For in a war economy, we must sacrifice.
And give up hopes and freedoms, to support and win the fight.
And as our debts mount higher, while our jobs they disappear.
I can’t help but wonder, what it is we fear.

Chorus
For freedom is only slavery, the truth composed of lies.
And with every person we learn to hate, we learn to die inside.

And when the war is over, and our boys return to stay.
What will they find they were fighting for, what will we have to say?
With bodies torn and ragged, with their innocence stripped away.
What will they think as they learn to live, in their brave new day?

Chorus
For freedom is only slavery, the truth composed of lies.
And with every person we learn to hate, we learn to die inside.
