Thanks for posting this. I've been a fan of McMurtry for a long time. He's one of those musicians who play music because they can't imagine doing anything else. Rather than many of the current "flavors of the month," McMurtry represents that category called "artists," which I could define with my own subjective list of names, but you get the picture.
Don't suppose you'll see this on MTV, eh? The brain-dead, consumin' 20-somethings, who dance at the feet of Britney, Christine and the other creations of corporate record execs, wouldn't know what the f*ck McMurtry was talking about, anyways.

This is the first I've heard of him. It sounds like Dire Straits was a big influence on him.
I'll have to try to see him live sometime. All need is an excuse to drive down to Austin...
