Wizards Need Not Apply!

Substitute teacher Jim Piculas performed a simple magic trick with a toothpick, and was fired for practicing wizardy.

Board member Marge Whaley mistook this simple trick as actual, real, bona-fide Harry Potter style magic and had the man fired and banned from teaching in Pasco County.

I thought it was getting bad when people who believe that the Holy Bible is blueprint for creating worlds and life forms, started sitting on School Boards. Now we have people so closeted, ill-informed and ignorant of the world that they don't know a simple magician's trick, from the fantasy world of of make believe wizardry.

Marge Whaley's inability to separate fantasy from reality, coupled with her position on the School Board, makes her far more dangerous in my view than a teacher that keeps the children's attention, doing simple magic tricks.

The children know the trick isn't actual magic. Yet decisions about their education and well being, are made by a woman that the tick is actual magic. What else does such a woman believe in?

I know people like he that can't separate fantasy from reality. The ask for spare change at the train station. They don't make important decisions about our children's education.

If Marge Whaley truly believes in wizardy and believes that this is cause to fire teachers, then I truly believe that she needs a psychiatric evaluation. At the very least, for now she needs to be suspended from the School Board. We don't need our children's education to be bounded by a woman that believes in wizards and witches and fairy tale creatures. We need leadership in our education system that can separate reality of from the phantasmagorical.

I guess it is only a matter of time before we hear about School Board Members calling for Students and Faculty to be stoned to death, or burned at the stake, for heretical teachings. What's next? Cutting out the tongues of Science Teachers that say the world is round?

Do not question the petty fascist powers of large marge, the deacon's wife.

Maybe the teacher should apply for a post at Hogwarts.

Seriously though, sounds like "The Handmaid's Tale" is coming to pass.

Lord forbid that some science teacher attempt to teach "evolution" of that the world is, in fact, round, and circles the Sun, rather than the other way around.
And here I thought only Kansas school boards were trapped in the 16th century.
