While I didn't learn anything new, this is a great compilation of the odds and ends of population problems I've read and heard about in recent years. One thing in particular that was emphasized was the way we've been manipulated to accept growth as a good thing, with many 'scholars' helping to obscure the truth. It shows how desperate the legislatures and administrations have been to keep up appearances so that they wouldn't be the ones to tell us that we need to start a very painful regression from our profligate ways. Some of them, I assume, had a bit of hopefulness that somehow, science would pull our asses out of the fire, and we could just continue on as we are now. Even now, seeing how little we've done to develop new and more efficient renewable resources for energy, they still are too afraid of being another Jimmy Carter, blamed for the pain of telling the truth.

Thanks, Weaseldog.
