Political Bias

After all the talk that continues to go around about how politicians pander to the extremes of the base and ignore the middle, I began to wonder how these panderings would look, graphed on in a chart.

I think this chart helps explain visually, why the far left and right, receives all of the attention.

I know this is a joke about breasts but it does bring up a serious question about U.S. politics. The U.S.'s middle is any other countries right wing. And what do these terms mean anyway? Is the left a socialist who believes in total government ownership of all major productive assets of society, an anarchist who believes in abolishing the government, or a Clinton who is just another global elite suck up? And what does right mean? Is right an anti authoritarian plaeo-con/Libertarian who believes in small constitution based government, or a pro authoritarian Bush supporter? Is Blair's labor left or right? Time to abolish these meaningless terms from our vocabulary.

This is intended as a joke, but not on mammary glands. It's intended to be a joke on political boobs, as Mike says.

Before bush came into office, politians for the most part, tried to be much clearer on where they stood on issues. So as you go further back in time, it was easier and easier to learn what the party line is. It also seemed that back in those days, the parties tried to do some semblance of living up to their promises.

The Republican Party when struggling in past years came up with the idea of the 'Contract With America'. That got them a lot of converts, because it was an actual conservative message with smaller government, respect for the US Constitution, a focus on States Rights etc. IRS reform. And they actually enacted some of that stuff. It seemed a golden time, when politicians were doing some of the things they promised and wasn't excessively screwing the other part over.

Now the current crop of Republicans came in on their coat tails. The current Republicans are in office to steal anything not nailed down and evidently, to destroy the United States.

Now to answer your question, the best definition of Right and Left that I think there is, is that the Democratic Party is the left boob, and the Republican Party is the right boob. Ideology and political leanings are all meaningless now. It's every crook for himself.
